Why We Introduced the Vault Selection Auction Format

Over time, we’ve learned that quality does not benefit from being rushed or crowded.

The Vault Selection format was created to give exceptional pieces the space, attention, and documentation they deserve—while offering bidders a more focused and enjoyable experience.

Rather than large catalogs, Vault Selection auctions are intentionally small, typically featuring fewer than 15 carefully curated items. This allows us to:

• Provide exceptionally high-quality photography and detailed descriptions for every piece

• Spend more time discussing material, condition, and context

• Maintain a consistent and rigorous approach to authenticity and buyer confidence

• Conclude auctions efficiently, often in under one hour, without sacrificing care

We’ve found that a strong artifact holds its value regardless of how many lots surround it—and in many cases, focused presentation allows truly good material to perform even better.

This format also allows us to offer more frequent auctions, giving collectors regular opportunities to participate without overwhelming their time or attention.
